ALDS: Orioles vs. Yankees

October 9, 2012 Leave a comment

I can’t lie.

I wasn’t totally convinced.

But my hometown team, the Baltimore Orioles, made it into the MLB American League Playoffs as a Wild Card team. They were victorious against the Texas Rangers in a one-game, win or go home, playoff. I won’t mention how the Rangers fell apart at the end of the season, but I digress.

Now comes the real test. Their American League East Division rival; The New York Yankees. I can’t stand the Yankees. I lost the tiny bit of respect I had for Alex Rodriguez when he was found to have used performance-enhancing drugs. Derek Jeter is just another aging star baseball player to me. Nothing will ever convince me that the Yankees are something other than the product of spending the most money you can to buy the best players available.

The O’s and Yanks split the first two games of the American League Division Series. Entering Game 3, the teams head to New York for the final and deciding games of the best-of-five contest.

Returning to postseason play for the first time in 15 long years, I couldn’t be any prouder for my Birds. I hold my breath with every pitch. I can’t sleep until I know the game is over.

I’m not a religious man, but I will be praying a lot the next several days.

Go O’s!!!

Amen.

Orioles Aiming For Playoffs

The Baltimore Orioles are tied for first place in the American League East with the New York Yankees. This is the latest in the regular season they have held the lead in their division since 1997. That was also the last year they made the playoffs.

Baltimore, Maryland is my hometown and I have been a lifelong Orioles fan. I have remained loyal for 14 straight seasons of losing baseball and gladly look forward to seeing this streak end.

Go O’s!!!
